Joypod coming to a radio near you!

First up, here’s a link to the full blog post over at the Joypod site, but in short Joypod will be doing a live video game phone-in show for Play Radio UK, starting starting next week. To quote the blog post:

”Tommy Boyd (once children’s TV presenter now radio talk show host) has approached Joypod and asked us to do a live video game phone in show for Play Radio UK starting 8:00pm Thursday 29th January.”

Excellent news! Full details on what this means are over at Joypod, check it out. While your at it,  follow the Joypod twitter for the latest info.

Nice work fellas :)

Xbox Live Marketplace twitter for downloadable content

Ive set up a new twitter called XboxLiveDLC, which grabs the marketplace RSS feed from Major Nelson’s blog. It will tweet the downloadable content, price and any other info that fits in 140 character limit along with a link to the relevant article on Major Nelson, as new content appears.

An Xbox 360 sized package from UPS turned up this morning

Last year, I wrote about how on the 16th day of Christmas, my Xbox gave to meeeeeeee -  3 reeeeeeed rings :(

;(

:'(

A sad day, and possibly of the worst timing considering:

  1. The amount of decent games that had just released.
  2. The fact I had been a good boy all year, and was expecting some gaming delights in return at Christmas.
  3. The gaming bargains that were kicking around.

Anyway, it was packed up and sent off to the European Repair Center Frankfurt, Germany. Xbox-less for Xmas. What a time to be missing out, even my 360′s own blog was taunting me.

Well January 5th, 2009. A new year, and apart from the snow, something else turned up today…

)

:)

Yep its back :) Same Xbox, but with a replaced motherboard and DVD drive. Happy days. I also can’t believe how quiet it is, before it sounded like it was going to take off, I may have to free up some space and get something installed and try that out.

Now, what to play first?

How to… Xbox 360 region free games

I can remember the days when being a PAL gamer and wanting to play NTSC imports was all about various bridge adapters/converters, and filing down tabs on cartridge slots…

(

My faithful Megadrive “Game Adapter” used for many an import. No idea where my SNES Action Replay, or Super FX chip converter is though these days :(

Those days are long gone though. DS, PSP and PS3 titles don’t carry any region protection, and many 360 titles are actually region free.

Its worth considering importing the odd 360 title as it can work out considerably cheaper. For example, the Asian version of Soul Calibur IV is region free, and at Play-Asia its only 25 quid. Bargain.

Play-Asia probably has the most up to date and  comprehensive regional compatibility guide.

Another place to keep an eye on is the blog over at Videogamesplus (who run an excellent online store) They normally run a region free check on 360 titles as they get stock in, so its very up to date.
