Following the recent acquisition of 1 Up by UGO, the potential power of Twitter has been witnessed in true positive effect by all those following the accounts of some of the now ex 1 Up people. Instant communication and updates has provided a technological word of mouth, a means of two way communication, keeping all those  interested up to date and in the loop in what those guys would be up to next.

Within days of departure, the first Rebel FM podcast was out, and other projects such as Geekbox Radio have since hit the net -  all with a waiting and established fan-base who knew where and when this new media would be available. This sense of established community could of possibly have been lost without Twitter – and of course the dedication of the ex 1up’rs in providing these updates.

Although Twitter is without doubt a powerful tool,  it can sometimes be a little difficult to find the new people and content you want to read and follow. After reading this post on video games companies on Twitter by Sam Housten,  I thought I would take a look for myself to find what other gaming related people, sites, podcasts, developers and publishers were also out there establishing communities and communicating to the masses via Twitter.
